Frequently Asked Landscaping Company Questions
Do you give free estimates for landscaping?
Custom Landscape Construction is proud to provide free initial estimates for landscaping services. No fee, no contract, no strings attached: It’s your chance to get an honest quote from honest tradespeople so that you can make an informed decision for your investment.
How do I get an estimate for landscaping?
Getting an estimate is simple. All you need to do is contact us. From there, we’ll ask you a few details about the services you need. After that, we’ll provide you with a comprehensive assessment of the costs for the job, including expenses for labor, time, and materials.
Do you offer scheduled maintenance services?
Custom Landscape Construction offers scheduled landscape maintenance across the local area. You can contact us, request our maintenance services, and we’ll develop a thoroughgoing action plan to care for your lawn and landscape. Tell us how frequently you’d like the visits, and we’ll develop a schedule tailored to your preferences.
Can I give input on the design of my landscape?
Absolutely. At Custom Landscape Construction, we use a detailed consultation process to get to know our clients, flesh out their ideas, and realize their vision for their space. We welcome all feedback, and we adjust our design until every detail is to your liking.
Are you insured?
Custom Landscape Construction is a fully insured and licensed landscaping company. All our services are backed by thorough qualification, extensive training, and—yes—comprehensive coverage.
What’s the difference between hardscapes and softscapes?
A softscape is all the natural, organic materials used to create a landscape. Grass, plants, flowers, and trees are all parts of softscaping.
Hardscapes, on the other hand, are the built environmental features. These include structures made of concrete, wood, or other construction materials. Walkways, patios, and driveways are some of the most common hardscaped elements.
How do I care for freshly installed sod?
Fresh sod needs ample watering to establish strong roots. For the first two weeks, water your lawn four to six times a day for about five minutes. The soil underneath should never be soggy, so adjust accordingly. You should also stay off the sod.
After two weeks, you should mow the lawn for the first time. By then, the sod will have developed sufficient roots to need less watering and maintenance.
How does aeration improve my lawn’s health?
Aeration gives your lawn room to grow and space to breathe—literally. It reduces soil compaction, creating small pockets within the soil so that oxygen can flow to the roots of the grass. In the process, it increases nutrient uptake, allowing your lawn to grow stronger, lusher, and more resilient.
My lawn is thatched and patchy. Can you improve its appearance?
Thatch—the layer of organic matter that accumulates on a lawn—can cause root problems and patchiness if left untreated. For such issues, the best approach is a systematic one. At Custom Landscape Construction, we start by aerating the lawn to increase oxygen and nutrition intake. From there, we use a range of strategies to thicken the lawn, including re-seeding, dethatching, and adding topsoil.
